Yacht Club / Rescate Fishing Tournament

The San Carlos Yacht Club Rescate Fishing Tournament in March offers a lone angler the chance to win up to $2,000 USD in prize money. The entry fee is $150 per angler, with no additional boat fees. Each day, $500 is given to the first billfish hook-up and release, as well as the largest dorado, yellowfin tuna, or wahoo weighing 12 pounds or more. In 2016, 19 boats competed, with most boats catching dorado to eat, including a few 25-pound fish. The grand prize winner pulled off a close victory with 25 releases.

Ladies International Fishing Tournament

The Ladies International Fishing Tournament, taking place at the end of May, is one of the longest-running annual fishing tournaments – celebrating its 25th year in 2018. The entry fee is $60, which includes the awards dinner and a gift. It’s not uncommon to see close to 20 boats and 35 anglers out on the water catching two dozen marlin and sailfish for release.

Yellowtail Fishing Tournament

The March Yellowtail Spearfishing Tournament offers a unique way of catching fish by putting your free diving skills to the test. The $50 entry includes a tournament rash guard and a raffle ticket chance to win thousands of prizes. The weigh-in party takes place at Hammerhead’s Dockside Bar & Grille.

Golf Tournaments

The San Carlos Golf and Country Club is widely considered one of the best golf courses in all of Mexico. Not only was the 18-hole, par-72 championship course designed by Roy Dye, son of the legendary Pete Dye, but the greens are also surrounded by an impressive view of pink-hued mountains and the Sea of Cortez. The Olympic-size swimming pool, outdoor patios, pro shop, and restaurants add to the ambiance.
