Nestled in the northern upper corner of the Bay of Banderas, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is known best for it’s diversity. A quiet, typical Mexican town, this pueblo is also home to the multi-million dollar Riviera Nayarit Marina which draws yachts, sailboats of every size and value, and smaller boats from all over the world. The local fishermen bring their catches each day to the market area which features fresh fish of every type, ready for you to take home for the best meal of the day!
Away from the marina, the town of La Cruz wanders through shady streets with locals and visitors mingling. The town truly offers all the vacationer or full-time resident could ask for, with excellent restaurants which vary from fine international cuisine to street tacos to casual dining spots. La Cruz also features entertainment venues of every type, music and dancing and local flavor.
On Sundays, from November to May, shopping is the center of attention when the marina hosts the Riviera Market with every imaginable type of handcrafts and foods, accompanied by various musical talents to stroll, shop and eat by. Every day there are shops with local crafts, clothing and souvenirs.
La Cruz beaches are tranquil, tucked into the curve of the Bay, with calm seas ready for a swim or kayaking, paddle boarding or snorkeling. Sit under a palapa at one of the beach bars in La Manzanilla or Destiladeras or just walk along the beach…you will truly feel “away from it all” in lovely La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.
