Puerto Vallarta South

Just south of the Romantic Zone, there is one zone known as ¨PV South¨. Starting at Conchas Chinas, some of the well known areas as Las Estacas, Los Venados, El Carrizo, Punta Negra, Palmares, Playas Gemelas, Los Arcos and Mismaloya, the curves on the highway between beautiful panoramic views of mountain with jungle and ocean waves will give your eyes and lungs the beauty of nature and life that just a few places in the world have.

The South Zone has several vestiges of Hollywood history. In and around Mismaloya in 1963, Richard Burton, Ava Gardner, and Tennessee Williams filmed The Night of the Iguana¨. During the making of the film, the love affair between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton sparked international interest in Puerto Vallarta. Although there are several fabulous beaches in the South Zone, a visit to the lovely Mismaloya Beach where the Taylor-Burton steam-powered fire should make the list mandatory for visitors to the South Zone. In 1987, the scenes of the jungle in the movie Predator were filmed in locations in the hills behind Mismaloya.
