Airport and Flight Information Coming into Los Cabos

Flying is one of the fastest ways to reach Los Cabos and begin your vacation. There are two airports in Los Cabos: Cabo San Lucas airport or Cabo San Lucas International Airport, and the Los Cabos International Airport. The Cabo San Lucas airport is a small airfield that is primarily private jets and shuttles. The main airport is the Los Cabos Airport, and it is to this airport that most flights to Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo will arrive. This busy airport is located near San Jose del Cabos, and is within driving distance of the Cabo vacation rental homes and condos that we offer for rent here at Sea Side Reservations.

Los Cabos International Airport is one of the ten busiest airports in Mexico. When scheduling a flight to Los Cabos it is important to know what the IATA, or International Air Transport Association code is. For the Los Cabos International Airport that code is SJD for San Jose del Cabo. Airport codes are important as they are often used to identify the airport when looking for or scheduling flights. Not every airline offers flights to Los Cabos International Airport. Current airlines offering Cabo San Lucas flights include American Airlines, Delta, Frontier, United, Virgin America, and US Airways, to name a few. You should keep this in mind when booking a flight to Los Cabos from the airport that is in or near your city.

When looking into flights to Cabo San Lucas or anywhere in Los Cabos, make plans to obtain a U.S. passport, if you do not already have one, as it is necessary when flying into Mexico. In addition, you will also need a tourist or visitors card which involves a fee. This tourist card is called an FMM and when traveling by plane it is included in the price of your airline ticket. The FMM is handed out on the flight before your plane lands and will need to be filled out. In addition, you will also be given a customs declaration form to complete. Upon landing stop at the immigration desk at the airport, which will give you the portion of the forms to keep. Once finished at the immigration desk you may collect your luggage from the carrousels and head to customs.

At the airport there are currently three terminals, although two are of the most concern for travelers at present. These terminals are Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The second terminal is only for international flights and certain airlines. The first terminal is for both domestic and limited amount of international flights. Terminal information is important, particularly if you are being picked up by people who may have traveled ahead of you to Los Cabos.

Once you’ve finished at the airport you’ll need transportation to take you to the house that you’re renting from Sea Side Reservations. There are airport shuttles available, as well as taxis. Shuttles and taxis often carry a group of people at time. Car rentals are also available at the airport, which makes it convenient for tourists to drive themselves at their own pace.
