    January 2011

    *Vallarta Cup Race Series: Sailing regatta on the Banderas Bay

    This is put on by the Vallarta Yacht Club.

    *Patron Saint Festivities of Our Lady of Peace: This is how people here recognize the patron Saint by sailing in Pilgrimage to Bucceria by sea in very colorful boats.

    *Urban Art Festival ( Chalk Art) and Flavors of Riviera Nayarit: This is to celebrate Bucerias art and food on the streets. The galleries here have organized a festival where they use colored chalk paintings made on the sidewalks and you also will get the opportunity to try several popular dishes from the area.

    *International Festival of Migrating Birds: Many different birds visit Nayarit in the winter months and here you can watch them among all the cultural activities going on.

    February 2011

    *Patron Saint Festival for Our Lady of Tintoque: This is a festival surrounded by folklore in the unique scene of Valle de Banderas.

    *San Blas Patron Saint Festivities: This is a boat trip that travels through the estuary and celebrates the patron a=saint with fireworks displays and lots of dancing.

    *Tuesday of Carnival: This festival is made with much decorated cars and takes place right near the estuary. There are many sporting and cultural events that take place one in which is the Burning of Bad Mood which starts on the previous Saturday.

    *Vallarta Race: This is a race that begins in San Diego, California and finishes at the Marina of Paradise Village which is located in Nuevo Vallarta. The organization of this event is done by the San Diego Yacht Club.

    *Festival Of Mexicanhood: this is a festival of sports and cultural events that all tie in with Mexican traditions. This is one of the largest festivals in Mexico.

    *Challenge with Tanias Elias: This is a Mexican sailing challenge with Pablo Rabago and Tania Elias Calles who are attempting to sail to London by way of Sea of Cortez and then coming back to Riviera Nayarit.

    *Mexorc Oceanic Race: Regatta Copa Mexico which entails seven intense days of nautical contest which began in the Riviera Nayarit Marina. There will be multiple categories to compete within.

    March 2011

    *Kitesurfing Contest -Regatta Copa Mexico : This is a competition with over 100 competitors which will try to win the max award for their skills.

    *Optimist – Regatta Copa Mexico: This is a sailing competition for children ages 9-15. Here they will compete in a variety of sailing categories.

    *Beach Volleyball Tournament: This will be held at Nuevo Vallarta Beach.

    *Beach Soccer Tournament: This is also held at Nuevo Vallarta Beach.

    *Windsurf Competition: This is held at Bucerias and Nuevo Vallarta Beaches.

    *Regatta J24 Sailing – Regata Copa Mexico: The most important and prestigious of the sailing events in Riviera Nayarit.

    *Latin American Boat Show: this is where you will be able to view and walk on the newest and most modern yachts and boats in the world.

    *Banderas Bay International Regatta: Hosted by the Vallarta Yacht Club this competition has a variety of categories in which to compete.

    *Futures Golf Tour: A golf Tournament that brings many of the world’s greatest golfers from all over the world.

    *Holly Week: The primary time for Mexican tourists to travel kind of like Spring Break in the US.

    April 2011

    *Judea Live: The representation of the passion of the death of Christ with a lot of drama people come from all over Mexico to see this take place in Riviera Nayarit.

    *San Vicente Ferrer Patron Saint Festivities: This occurs in the main plaza and is thought of as one of the most important Charro tournaments in Riviera Nayarit.

    *Annual Punta Sayulita Longboard & Stand up Paddle Classic: This is a surfing competition that allows entry of participants of all levels.

    *San Marcos Patron Saint Activities: This is the celebration of the gospel that has a fair in the main plaza area which feature shows with horses, music and lots of dancing.

    *Day of the Marine: this is an outrageous military spectacle that has been around since the 1940’s. This is the day in which they celebrate Mexican Marines. This takes place at the Fort of San Blas and here you will be able to see and attend many parades that take place in the street.

    *San Blas Fishing Tournament: this is an annual event that takes place close to the Day of the Marine Festival and this is one of the biggest fishing events in all of Mexico.

    August 2011

    *Maize Fair: This is a show where you will be able to see Mexican Horses perform, fireworks displays, and the fair is dedicated to products made out of corn with contests like who has grown the biggest ear of corn.

    *Riviera Nayarit Marlin And Tuna Fishing Tournament: In this competition many fisherman compete to see who can catch the biggest marlin and also the biggest tunas.

    September 2011

    *Homeland Festivities: This is a celebration focused on Mexico’s Independence and here you will be able to see fireworks all throughout Riviera Nayarit. This is one of the most special and important events to take place in Mexico.

    *San Francisco’s Patron Saint Festivities: Many dances, ,music, and reverence for the patron Saint.

    October 2011

    *Armado Nervo Festival – Riviera Nayarit Phase: This is another very important festival to Nayarit where they have a lot of dramatic dance and music.

    *Social Media Marketing Conference: This is where people from Facebook and Twitter reveal ways to better market your business and ideas. This has been very helpful in networking many resort towns within Mexico.

    *Day of Christ the King: This is when dancers and singers gather to sing and worship Christo Rey and this takes place at Ixtlan del Rio.

    November 2011

    *Rincon de Guayabitos Festival: this is a series of fishing contests, photo shows, handcrafted artisan crafts, events in the sporting world etc.

    *Day of The Dead: This is when they celebrate the people in their families and friends death. Here you will see colorful flower arrangements and ribbons all around the cemeteries.

    *XVI Festival Gourmet: This is a cook-off form over 20 chefs in the area who come to compete for the best plate and the event takes place over 10 days

    *Riviera Nayarit Half marathon –

    *IV Golf Tournament The Governor’s Cup: This takes place at the Tigres Golf Course. All proceeds are given to local charities of the area.

    December 2011

    *Patron Saint Festivities for Our Lady of Guadelupe: This is when the Sayulita church is given to the Dark Lady. This is a festival of sincere devotion.

    *Banderas Bay Anniversary: A huge festival celebrating the success and history of the area where you will be able to see many cultural and sporting events. A good time is had by all who attend.
