Mazatlan

Mazatlan is located in the southern state of Sinaloa, the first inhabitants of Mazatlan were not permanent but nomadic tribes eventually traded with the Aztecs. It was precisely the Aztecs who gave the name of Mazatl to this area, which means land of deer. Unlike most beach destinations in Mexico, Mazatlán has additionally an extensive history and is a city that takes care of itself and its culture. This extraordinary combination of beautiful beaches, wonderful natural attractions and luxurious hotels, along with a carefully preserved historic center, abundant cultural activities and a spirit of hospitality from its people, makes Mazatlán can offer its visitors a beautiful fun beach area, as the characteristics of a colonial city. The old Mazatlan is the area around the center of the city, is an excellent area to explore. Many older buildings have been restored or are in the process. There are some walking tours of the city that will point the main attractions of The Historic Zone. Take a tour if you really feel an inclination towards this but a casual exploration hike is the best way to discover the true charm and history of old Mazatlan. Enjoy sidewalk cafes and mingle with the friendly locals who are proud of their lovely city and the average annual temperature is 25 C.
